Helping Children, Supporting Parents
In 2008, Yichien dedicated herself to pediatric work, helping babies and children learn to swallow, eat, communicate, and talk. She takes pride in supporting parents in their journey with special-needs children.
Yichien’s fascination with how physiological functions interact with the learning process and social-emotional development has been a motivating force in her studies and career.
Yichien holds an undergraduate degree in Immunology at University College London, England. She became a Speech-Language Pathologist and later graduated with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, also at University College London.
She is currently PhD candidate at Seton Hall University, NJ. Her area of research is pediatric swallowing and feeding development.
Yichien has worked in a variety of settings, including acute neural rehabilitation, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), outpatient, and Early Intervention.
After treating the young and old who were challenged by swallowing and communication difficulties due to neurological disorders, Yichien delved into the study of oral-facial neurodevelopment. To have maximum flexibility and provide innovative treatment modalities, she turned to private practice in 2016.

Yichien believes that strengthening children’s fundamental neurophysiological foundation helps them develop their full potential and heal from the difficult experiences they have endured navigating illness.

Yichien founded Sammy’s Friends Foundation in 2011 after the sudden death of her middle child.
The mission of this private charity is to provide financial help for families whose children, like Sammy, have global delays and require ongoing developmental treatments.
